PISE Membership Agreement

The PISE Membership Agreement outlines the expectations, policies, and procedures that help ensure a safe, respectful, and well maintained environment for all members, guests, staff, and athletes. By accessing and using the facility, members acknowledge their responsibility to follow posted rules, adhere to staff direction, and conduct themselves in a manner that supports the health, safety, and positive experience of the entire PISE community. The following terms describe the standards of behaviour, facility operations, and safety practices that apply to all individuals while on site.

Member Expectations
To help maintain a safe, clean, and respectful environment for all members, the following expectations apply while using the facility:

• Members must scan their membership card at the Welcome Desk before entering the facility. 
• Members are responsible for wiping down all equipment after use, using the provided spray bottles and cloths. 
• Weights must be returned to their designated storage locations after use. 
• Dropping, slamming, or throwing weights is not permitted. 
• Olympic lifting platforms are designated for bumper plates only. Other plates must not be used on lifting platforms. 
• Cell phones and other electronic devices must be used respectfully and in a manner that does not disrupt other members or interfere with facility operations. 
• Members are expected to treat staff, volunteers, and fellow members with courtesy and respect at all times. 
• Members must follow all posted facility rules and any instructions provided by staff.

Failure to comply with these expectations may result in a warning, suspension, or termination of facility access at the discretion of management.

Hours of Operation
I understand that facility hours may vary throughout the year. Hours of operation may be adjusted on statutory holidays, non-statutory holidays, and other special dates. I acknowledge that posted schedules or regular operating hours may not apply on these dates and that it is my responsibility to confirm current facility hours prior to attending.
Current hours of operation are available on our website and social media channels and are subject to change.
Statutory holiday hours are typically 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. For certain non-statutory holidays and special dates, the facility may operate on reduced hours of 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The facility reserves the right to modify operating hours as required. Whenever possible, changes to operating hours will be communicated through our website, social media platforms, and other available communication channels.

Facility Closures
I acknowledge that the facility may be closed periodically, including but not limited to holiday closures (such as during the Christmas period), special events, maintenance, filming, extreme weather, or other operational needs. I understand that such closures may occur with or without advance notice.
When possible, facility closures or changes to regular operating hours will be communicated through appropriate PISE communication channels, including the PISE website, social media, email, and/or signage within the facility.
For outdoor activities and training, access may also be restricted or cancelled due to unsafe environmental or weather conditions, including but not limited to poor air quality or wildfire smoke, extreme heat, snow or ice, lightning, or other conditions that may pose a safety risk. PISE reserves the right to modify, relocate, postpone, or cancel outdoor activities when conditions are deemed unsafe.

Events and Limited Access
I understand that PISE hosts and supports a variety of events, including but not limited to sporting events, Camosun Chargers’ games, fundraisers, community events, family festivals, and filming. During these events, access to the facility, including the gymnasium and fitness centre, may be limited, modified, or unavailable to the public. I acknowledge that participation in or attendance at the facility does not guarantee full access during event days.
In circumstances where facility access is significantly impacted for an extended period, as determined solely by PISE, appropriate compensation may be provided in the form of an account credit applied to the member's ActiveNet account. Any such compensation will be determined at the discretion of PISE and based on the nature and duration of the access limitations.

Member Conduct
I understand that all members and guests are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and courteous manner at all times while using the facility. This includes respectful interactions with staff, other members, athletes, and visitors. Members and guests are expected to follow facility rules, respect shared spaces and equipment, use appropriate language and behaviour, and follow the direction of PISE staff.
Behaviour that is disruptive, threatening, discriminatory, harassing, unsafe, or otherwise inappropriate will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the facility or further action in accordance with PISE policies.

Appropriate Music & Audio
Music played out loud must be appropriate for a shared, public facility. Music containing explicit, offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate language or content is not permitted. Members may be asked by PISE staff to lower the volume, change the music, or use headphones if the music is disruptive or unsuitable for the facility.

Dress Code
I agree to follow the facility’s dress code at all times. This includes wearing appropriate athletic leisure wear, closed-toe athletic shoes, and no jeans while using the fitness centre or gymnasium.
The dress code is available on the PISE website and can also be requested at the Welcome Desk.

Respectful Use of Equipment
I acknowledge that equipment must be used safely and respectfully. This includes using equipment only for its intended purpose, returning all equipment to its designated area after use, and allowing others to share equipment during busy periods.

Behaviour and Policy Compliance
I understand that disruptive, unsafe, or inappropriate behaviour, including but not limited to harassment, misuse of equipment, inappropriate language or music, or failure to follow staff direction, may result in removal from the facility or suspension or termination of membership privileges.
I agree to follow all posted rules, staff instructions, and PISE policies while using the facility. This includes, but is not limited to, the Member Code of Conduct, facility and equipment-use policies, appropriate music and phone-use expectations, photography and recording policies, and any rules specific to designated spaces or activities.
Current policies and the Member Code of Conduct are available on the PISE website and/or at the Welcome Desk. I understand that it is my responsibility to follow these policies while using the facility.

First Aid and Incident Response Procedures
I understand that in the event of an injury, medical emergency, safety concern, or other incident, PISE staff may take reasonable action to protect the health and safety of members, guests, staff, and others within the facility.
This may include providing first aid within the scope of staff training, contacting emergency services, initiating emergency or evacuation procedures, restricting access to an area, and completing an incident report.
I agree to follow all instructions provided by PISE staff during an emergency or incident, including evacuation or shelter-in-place directions, and understand that I must not interfere with staff or emergency personnel responding to the situation.
I understand that injuries, accidents, hazards, or other safety concerns should be reported to PISE staff as soon as possible so that appropriate action can be taken.
Where an incident requires documentation, I understand that PISE staff may request information from those involved or from witnesses for the purpose of completing an incident report and following established safety procedures.

Staff Authority
I understand that PISE staff have the authority to enforce facility policies and make decisions regarding the safe and appropriate use of the facility. Failure to comply with staff direction may result in removal from the facility or suspension or termination of membership privileges.
