Thank you for choosing the Xtreme Gymnastics and Trampoline (XGT) Competitive Team Program. We are excited to welcome your family to the XGT team and are confident that your time here will be a rewarding and memorable experience. We look forward to partnering with you as we work together to build a successful team founded on our core values.

We strive to have a place for every child who desires to pursue competitive gymnastics. We have teams to help transition athletes of all ages from the instructional programs to team, as well as teams that compete both locally and nationally. Regardless of the path your athlete chooses, our goal extends far beyond scores and medals. We strive to help athletes learn how to set goals, work diligently, and celebrate achievement. Along the way, they develop self-control, discipline, responsibility, time management, personal accountability, integrity, confidence, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with teammates and coaches.

Over the years, XGT has earned a reputation for excellence, and that reputation is built by every member of our community, our athletes, coaches, staff, and families. We hope your time at XGT will be filled with purpose, passion, and lasting memories. As a member of the XGT family, you play an important role in maintaining the positive culture that makes our gym special, and we are excited for the unique gifts and energy your family brings to our community.

This Team Handbook is designed to answer many of the questions you may have regarding our competitive programs, expectations, and policies. We encourage you to read through it carefully to better understand our values and the culture we strive to cultivate. If you have any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to speak with your athlete's coach.

We extend our best wishes for your family’s success and happiness at XGT.

Sincerely,

Xtreme Gymnastics

Pursue Passion, Find Purpose

We encourage others to discover their gifts and pursue what inspires them. When passion and purpose come together, confidence grows and opportunities follow.

ATHLETE WELL-BEING

ATHLETE SAFETY / SAFESPORT

Athlete safety is paramount at XGT. Every athlete deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported. We are committed to providing a positive, professional environment that is free from intimidation, hostility, harassment, and any behavior that interferes with an athlete, coach, or parent’s participation in our organization.

XGT maintains zero tolerance for harassment, abuse, bullying, hazing, or any behavior intended to demean, intimidate, or humiliate others. Such conduct is unacceptable and may result in dismissal from the team and organization without refund. All reports of harassment, abuse, or bullying will be taken seriously and investigated promptly. Appropriate action will be taken whenever misconduct is found.

XGT follows and aligns with the policies and guidelines established by USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Center for SafeSport. Families may review these policies at www.usagym.org and www.uscenterforsafesport.org.

Initial Here

ILLNESS

To help maintain a healthy training environment, athletes should not attend practice if they have had a fever or symptoms of a contagious illness within the previous 24 hours. Athletes must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications before they return to practice.

If an athlete develops symptoms while at practice, XGT may send the athlete home as a precaution. Parents are asked to communicate with their athlete's coaches regarding any illness-related absences. Return-to-practice guidelines may vary depending on the nature and duration of the illness.

Initial Here

INJURY

If an injury, whether sustained inside or outside the gym, prevents an athlete from participating in practice, XGT recommends seeking evaluation and treatment from a qualified medical professional. Before returning to practice, XGT must receive an applicable release and activity restrictions provided by the treating medical professional. Whenever possible, injured athletes are encouraged to attend practice during their normal training hours and participate in a modified workout. Remaining engaged with teammates and coaches helps athletes maintain connections and continue progressing during recovery.

Initial Here

FACILITY & EQUIPMENT

Gymnastics is inherently a dangerous sport. This fact combined with the difficulty level many athletes at Xtreme will achieve only adds to the potential for injury. All parents must be fully aware of the risks involved in the sport.  XGT is very aware of the potential danger and will make every effort to achieve and maintain a safe environment for athletes and coaches. It is common for XGT to make improvements to our facilities, equipment, and team areas. If any planned upgrades or changes are expected to cause extended disruptions to practice sessions, our Competitive Teams Director will inform parents accordingly.

EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN & INCLEMENT WEATHER

XGT makes every effort to remain open during inclement weather. If changes to the schedule are necessary, information will be communicated to team families by email and through our communication channels. In the event of a severe injury, severe weather, or any other emergency, XGT staff will follow the company's established Emergency Action Plan.

When weather conditions are questionable, please check the following sources for updates: Email, Instagram, Facebook.

COMMUNICATION

At XGT, we value clear and respectful communication and strive to provide exceptional service to our athletes and families. Communication is essential to the success of our team, and we encourage families to ask questions, voice concerns, and share important information.

The amount and type of communication with parents will vary depending on the athlete's age and level. This approach is intentional and helps foster strong relationships between coaches and athletes while teaching gymnasts to communicate, advocate for themselves, and take ownership of their development.

We value the insight parents have regarding their children and ask that the same trust and respect be extended to our coaches. Please remember that our decisions are made with the athlete's long-term development and best interests in mind.

Team meetings, emails, and handouts will be provided as needed throughout the season. If you have questions or concerns, we encourage you to communicate directly with your athlete's coach.

Every family is required to maintain at least one valid email address on file and remain subscribed to XGT emails. Team updates and important information will be communicated through iClassPro using the email address on file. It is the responsibility of each family to stay informed by regularly reviewing team emails and communications.

CHAIN OF COMMUNICATION

Day-to-day communication should take place with your athlete's specific level coach. Contact information for individual coaches will be provided by the coaching staff.

When questions or concerns arise, we ask families to follow the communication process below:

  1. Reference this Team Handbook for policies and guidelines.
  2. Speak directly with your athlete's coach.
  3. If additional support or clarification is needed, contact the appropriate Lead Coach and then, if not resolved, the CompetitiveTeams Director.
  4. Matters requiring executive leadership involvement will be directed to the appropriate member of our staff.

Direct communication with coaches by email, phone, or scheduled meetings is encouraged. Coaches will make every effort to respond in a timely manner, though not necessarily immediately. We ask families to respect coaches' practice schedules, office hours, and personal time.

To best serve our athletes and maintain healthy working relationships, we strongly discourage bypassing coaches on matters that fall within their responsibility and authority.

MEDIA

XGT may use photographs and videos taken during practices, competitions, banquets, and other XGT events for our website, social media platforms, and marketing materials.

Photos and videos are taken at random and are not intended to highlight one athlete, group, or program over another. Families are welcome to share their own photos and videos by tagging @xgtkids on social media.

Initial Here

SPECIAL EVENTS & TEAM ACTIVITIES

Throughout the season, coaches and parent volunteers coordinate activities that promote friendship, team unity, and positive experiences outside of practice. Events may vary by program and level.

Families are encouraged to include all athletes within their level when organizing team activities. Special events and team activities are separate from tuition and competitive fees. Participation is optional but strongly encouraged, as these experiences help strengthen relationships and build a positive team culture.

CONCERNS AND CONDUCT

COACHING ASSIGNMENTS/TRAINING GROUPS

Questions such as, "Why does this group have this coach?" or "Why is my athlete in that group?" are common. Please know that we thoughtfully assign coaches and training groups with the goal of providing each athlete with the best environment for growth, development, and long-term success.

Initial Here

ATHLETE PROGRESS

Gymnastics is a sport that rewards patience and consistency. Progress is often measured in months and years rather than days and weeks. Small improvements, repeated over time, build strong, successful athletes. Athletes spend countless hours developing and refining skills before they are competition-ready. Watching practice every day can sometimes make progress seem slow and lead to frustration. We ask families to trust the process and remember that meaningful growth takes time.

Comments such as, "Why can't she do that yet?" or "Why am I paying for this if she's not trying?" can be discouraging to athletes and may undermine the coach-athlete relationship. Our coaches are committed to helping each athlete progress at a pace that supports long-term development and success.

Initial Here

PARENT VIEWING AREAS

Parents and spectators are welcome to observe practice. To maintain a safe and productive training environment, parents and spectators may not interrupt practice by communicating or coaching athletes from the viewing areas. This includes verbal instructions, gestures, or other attempts to direct athletes.

During practice, athletes should remain focused on their coaches and the objectives of training. In addition, some athletes experience increased anxiety when they feel pressure to perform for their parents. The greatest support families can provide is encouragement, trust, and allowing coaches to do the coaching.

Initial Here

OTHER ATHLETES OR GROUPS

Questions and concerns should be addressed directly with the appropriate coach and should pertain only to your athlete. We ask families not to speculate about the training, progress, or circumstances of other athletes. In addition, concerns should be communicated directly by the parent involved. We value respectful and forthright communication. Selecting a "representative" to speak on behalf of a group of parents is discouraged and does not promote healthy communication.

Initial Here

CONDUCT & SPORTSMANSHIP

Maintaining a positive and respectful culture is everyone's responsibility. Gossip, rumors, malicious talk, or behavior intended to damage relationships or undermine the reputation of athletes, coaches, staff, or the organization are inconsistent with XGT's core values.

We ask athletes and families to address concerns directly and respectfully with their coach rather than using the viewing areas, competitions, social media, or other XGT-related activities as platforms for complaints or negativity.

Our goal is not to avoid difficult conversations, but to ensure they occur in a productive and respectful manner that strengthens our team culture.

Conduct that is harmful to the well-being of athletes, staff, or the XGT community may result in disciplinary action, including dismissal from the organization without refund.  Parents using the viewing area to participate in gossip will be asked to leave.

Initial Here

ATTENDANCE

Consistent attendance is an important part of an athlete's development and success. It demonstrates commitment to teammates, coaches, and the goals each athlete has set for themselves. Skills are built through repetition, and regular practice is essential for progress, confidence, and safety. Competitive gymnastics requires a significant commitment from both athletes and families.

We understand that athletes also have commitments outside the gym, including school activities, concerts, church events, and family obligations. However, absences, particularly during the week of a competition, may affect an athlete's preparation and ability to compete safely.

If an athlete misses practice during meet week, the Lead Coach may require a private lesson, at the family's expense, or determine that the athlete should be scratched from the competition. These decisions are made on a case-by-case basis with the athlete's safety and long-term development in mind.

Meet entry fees are generally nonrefundable, and reimbursement cannot be guaranteed if an athlete is unable to attend or compete for any reason. Coaching fees associated with competitions are also nonrefundable.

If your athlete will be absent from practice, please notify the coaching staff as far in advance as possible. Advance communication allows coaches to make appropriate adjustments and provide the best possible training experience for your athlete.

Because of the individualized nature of team training schedules, make-up practices are not available for competitive team athletes.

Initial Here

EARLY RELEASE FROM SCHOOL

Our Women’s Development Program (DP) trains anywhere from 8 to 25 hours per week, and to ensure the athletes have time outside the gym, we have adapted a progressive start time schedule. Starting at DP Level 4, athletes will need to leave school early in order to attend practice. In our experience, schools have been very flexible and worked alongside families to accommodate early release for students. At the start of the school year, be sure to contact the appropriate school staff to make arrangements. See APPENDIX and FORMS for a sample letter.

EARLY ARRIVAL/LEAVING EARLY/ LATE PICKUP

If your athlete requires an early arrival or a late pickup, it is important to know that your athletes may not be on the competition floor, apparatus, workout area, or trampolines during this time. Safety is a pillar of our practices, and unsupervised time in the gym can lead to injuries.

In addition, athletes may not leave a workout or competition floor without the expressed permission of the coaching staff. If your athlete needs to leave early from a practice or a meet, please communicate with your athlete’s coach directly.

Initial Here

TAKING TIME OFF

Extended time off will negatively impact the performance of the athlete and, therefore, is not recommended.  We understand that circumstances arise that are out of our control.  The coaching staff will do their best to make the situation work with families, when possible.

Finding time to fit vacations into the family’s busy schedule can be very difficult. Short vacations are allowed and encouraged in the summer to give athletes time to recharge.  Please keep in mind that although summer seems like an “off” season, this is the time where we are building strength and gaining new, bigger skill sets.  Muscle deteriorates rapidly, when not being conditioned.  If the gymnast takes too much time off, she will risk injury performing these new skills with a weaker frame.

Initial Here

CANCELED/ MAKEUP PRACTICES

It is at the Competitive Teams Director’s discretion to schedule days off as they feel the athletes need it. We may also cancel a practice for a variety of circumstances. Changes to the schedule will be communicated to parents directly. There are NO make-up practices for team athletes.

Initial Here

PRIVATE LESSONS/CLINICS/CAMPS

Private lessons should be arranged with the athlete’s main coach(es). If your athlete would like to work with a different coach, it must be approved by your athlete’s current coach. At all times, the normally scheduled classes and events in the gym take priority over any private lesson. Costs of private lessons are set by the individual coach, are not billable to your XGT account, and are paid directly to the coach. Private lessons/clinics at other gyms or with a coach that is not currently employed by XGT are not permitted.

Team athletes are not allowed to attend camps at other facilities without the Competitive Teams Director’s approval. Athletes must be going into ninth grade and Level 9/10 to attend college camps. All college camps must be approved by the Competitive Teams Director.

PRACTICE AND PARTICIPATION

Many factors outside the gym can affect an athlete's training, including school, church, illness, stress, family circumstances, and the physical and emotional changes that come with adolescence. These challenges can impact focus, confidence, and overall performance.

Open communication between families and coaches helps us better support each athlete. If there are circumstances that may affect your athlete's training or well-being, we encourage you to share them with the coaching staff. Information that may seem minor can help coaches make appropriate adjustments and provide the support your athlete needs.

The coaching staff at XGT recognizes that adolescence can be a particularly challenging season. Athletes may experience changes in confidence, motivation, emotions, and how they respond to instruction. During these years, strong communication and partnership between coaches and parents are especially important.

Our goal is to create an environment where athletes feel supported, understood, and challenged appropriately as they continue to grow both as gymnasts and as young people.

Initial Here

WORKOUT ATTIRE

A properly fitting and clean leotard is the only acceptable workout attire. Athletes (10+) must wear briefs and sports bras. Hair should be tied back so it does not interfere during the workout. No jewelry, other than small stud earrings, may be worn during the workout.

USAG athletes should wear the current year’s competitive practice leos every Monday or Tuesday throughout the competition season, depending on their first scheduled practice of the week.

KC League athletes should wear the current year’s competitive/practice leos every Monday or Tuesday, depending on specific practice schedule for each group - with the exception of Monday/Tuesdays after a competition.

Initial Here

GRIPS

When an athlete reaches the appropriate level, coaches will recommend grips and wristbands. Athletes are responsible for bringing their grips to practice and storing them in their lockers when not in use. To avoid interruptions in training, athletes should maintain two broken-in pairs of grips in case one pair fails. Athletes are also responsible for keeping track of personal training items, such as jump ropes and ankle weights, and replacing them when necessary.

Initial Here

SNACKS

Athletes are welcome to bring healthy, energy-boosting snacks to practice and asked to keep all food and drinks off the workout floor. Athletes are responsible for cleaning up after themselves and maintaining a clean gym environment. Please keep snacks in the cubby areas or parent viewing areas.

Initial Here

LOCKERS/ CAVE

Athletes will be assigned a locker during the season, which may be shared with teammates. Space is limited; personal belongings should be kept to a minimum so that practice items can be stored appropriately.

Athletes are responsible for keeping lockers, cubbies, and the "Cave" area clean and organized. Open food should never be left overnight. These areas are intended for daily storage and should be cleaned out after each practice so that they remain available for everyone.

Initial Here

ASSIGNMENTS

Training assignments are based on a variety of factors, and each athlete's development will look different. Progress in gymnastics is not always linear, and comparisons to teammates can be counterproductive. We encourage athletes and families to focus on individual growth rather than comparing progress to others.

Coaches use sound progressions and developmentally appropriate steps to help athletes master skills safely before advancing to more difficult ones. Whether directly or indirectly supervised, athletes are expected to follow coaches' instructions at all times.

Athletes should commit fully to the skills they are asked to perform. Balking or bailing on skills can create unsafe situations for both the athlete and the coach.

Initial Here

COACH-ATHLETE COMMUNICATION & TRUST

Trust and communication are essential to a successful coach-athlete relationship. We recognize that every athlete and coach has a unique personality and communication style. Coaches are committed to learning how each athlete learns best and adapting their approach accordingly.

Misunderstandings are a normal part of any relationship. Rather than making assumptions, athletes and coaches should respectfully ask questions and seek clarification when concerns arise.

As athletes mature, we encourage them to communicate directly with their coaches and advocate for themselves. Parents play an important supportive role, but whenever appropriate, we encourage families to allow athletes the opportunity to grow in confidence and communication by speaking for themselves.

Initial Here

BEHAVIOR

The following expectations apply to all athletes, parents, coaches, and staff and are intended to support a positive, safe, and respectful culture.

Forthright communication.. XGT supports differing opinions, constructive feedback, performance discussions, and instruction necessary for athlete development and safety. When expressed respectfully, without malice, and in a timely manner, these conversations are not considered harassment, abuse, or bullying.

Treat others with respect. Coaches, athletes, parents, and guests should always be treated with respect. Rude or belittling comments, gossip, displays of anger or contempt, athlete comparison and disrespectful behavior toward coaches, teammates, parents, or other adults have no place within the XGT community.

Represent yourself and XGT well online. Social media should never be used to criticize, ridicule, or speak negatively about another athlete, coach, organization, or teammate. Athletes should be mindful of all posts, photos, comments, and reposts, recognizing that social media is often viewed by college recruiters, employers, and peers.

Face challenges with a positive attitude. Every athlete experiences fear, frustration, setbacks, and disappointment. These challenges are a normal part of growth. Learn from them, persevere through them, and continue moving forward one step at a time.

Practice honesty and integrity. Honesty builds trust. Dishonesty and cheating demonstrate disrespect for teammates, coaches, parents, and oneself.

Give your best effort. Hard work and a positive attitude are the only things we ask athletes to control. Rather than comparing yourself to others, focus on your own growth and take responsibility for the things within your control: your attitude and your effort.

By choosing to be part of XGT, athletes and families commit to upholding these expectations and contributing to a culture that reflects our core values and mission of developing character through athletics.

Initial Here

DISCIPLINE

A safe, focused, and respectful training environment is essential to every athlete's growth and success. When behavior disrupts practice or creates a safety concern, coaches will address it in a calm, constructive, and age-appropriate manner. Our approach to discipline is progressive and supportive. It typically begins with redirection or a verbal reminder and, when necessary, may include a brief break from the activity or a conversation with the athlete and parents. The goal of discipline is not punishment, but to help athletes develop self-control, responsibility, and respect for others. In situations involving ongoing behavioral concerns or repeated safety issues, adjustments to training, group placement, or participation may be considered in partnership with the family and with the athlete's best interests in mind. Parental support and open communication are essential to an athlete's success. Coaches will keep parents informed of recurring behavioral or safety concerns so that families and coaches can work together to help each athlete thrive.

ATHLETE ADVANCEMENT

Athlete placement and competitive routines are determined by the Competitive Teams Director and coaching staff based on a variety of factors, including work ethic, consistency, attitude, skill development, and overall readiness. Some placement decisions are made early, while others require additional time and evaluation. We ask for your patience and support as coaches work to determine the most appropriate path for each athlete. Depending on the program, specific rules and minimum all-around score requirements may also apply.

Qualifying scores are only one factor in the advancement process and do not automatically determine readiness for the next level. Each athlete's unique strengths, development, and long-term goals are carefully considered.

Athletes develop at different rates. Some may advance with lower scores than others who remain at the same level, while some may progress more quickly due to their physical abilities, work habits, or skill acquisition. Likewise, remaining at the same level should not be viewed as a lack of success.

Team and training group assignments may change from year to year, and staying with the same teammates is not guaranteed.

We encourage families not to view moving up as the ultimate measure of success. Some athletes who ultimately excel in the upper levels spend additional time in the lower levels developing strength, confidence, character, and foundational skills that contribute to long-term success. Our goal is not simply to move athletes up, but to help them reach their full potential.

TEAM PHOTOS (2026-2027 SEASON)

Team and individual photographs are taken after all competitive team leotards have been distributed. All competitive team athletes are expected to participate in team photos. In addition, Women's Development Optional athletes are required to have individual photographs taken for use on the XGT website, including the College Recruitment Eligible Athletes page viewed by college recruiters.

Team photographs are generally scheduled every other competition season. XGT will provide additional details at the beginning of the competition season.

COMPETITIONS

MEET SCHEDULING AND TIMELINE

Competitions and locations are selected by the team coaches and Competitive Teams Director with the needs of the entire program in mind. A tentative competition schedule is generally provided to families in late August.

Meet schedules and locations are subject to change. Competitions may be added, modified, or canceled at the discretion of XGT and the Competitive Teams Director. Final session schedules, including competition days and times, are determined by the host club based on the number of entrants. Host clubs communicate updates through their own websites, and we often receive information at the same time it becomes publicly available. In many cases, final schedules are not released until two to three weeks before the competition.

Competitive gymnastics requires flexibility from families, as competition schedules are ultimately controlled by host clubs and governing organizations, not by XGT. Last-minute schedule changes are not uncommon, and occasionally final information is not available until just a few days before the meet. For this reason, families are encouraged to keep the entire competition weekend (Thursday through Sunday) available whenever possible.

USAG team athletes are required to participate in all regular-season competitions in order to be eligible for postseason events, including State Championships, Regional Championships, and National Championships, as applicable by level. Exceptions for extenuating circumstances may be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Competitive Teams Director.

Initial Here

TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATIONS

Travel requirements vary by program.

KC League athletes typically compete locally, generally within 40 minutes of XGT.

USAG athletes may travel throughout Missouri and surrounding states and may compete outside of Region 4.

Each athlete is responsible for her own travel expenses (transportation, hotel, food, etc.) for competitions. USAG athletes who travel outside of the KC Metro area will likely need to make lodging and transportation plans. XGT does not require the team to travel together nor does XGT hold reservations for the team. Therefore, families are encouraged to share insight to travel plans, if they would like to create a team travel experience. We do our best to post links to each meet, giving families an opportunity to make arrangements as soon as possible. It is recommended that families book reservations for the entire meet to ensure a room, and, as the schedules are released, changes can be made.

Admission is charged to spectators at meets, and costs are determined by the host gym and are typically posted with meet details. Often it is cash only.

Initial Here

MEET ETIQUETTE

Competitions can be both exciing and stressful for athletes and families. The following guidelines help create a positive experience for everyone involved.

Before and During the Meet

Arrive on time. Stretching and warmups are essential for athletes to prepare both physically and mentally.

Only coaches, athletes, judges, and meet personnel are permitted on the competition floor.

Athletes are expected to remain with their team throughout the entire session. After the final event and team remarks, athletes will be dismissed to their families.

To help athletes maintain focus, please do not ask them to leave the group during competition without first speaking with a coach.

Never approach judges or meet personnel regarding scores or performances. If you have questions, please speak with your athlete's coach after the meet.

Cheering and applause are encouraged. Please be respectful and avoid distractions that could affect athletes, judges, or other spectators.

We encourage XGT families to sit together, support one another, and cheer for all members of the team.

Initial Here

KEEPING COMPETITION IN PERSPECTIVE

Scores are only one measure of performance and are influenced by many factors. The same routine may receive different scores from one meet to another. While scores are important, they are not the ultimate measure of success.

Following competition, we encourage parents to focus on effort, attitude, and growth rather than results. Constructive feedback and technical corrections should be left to the coaches. Avoid reviewing videos with the intent of pointing out mistakes or providing technical instruction. Coaches will address corrections during practice and will prioritize what is most important for the athlete's development.

Every athlete experiences both great meets and disappointing ones. Try not to overreact to either. Celebrate the effort, learn from the experience, and keep the long-term journey in perspective. Above all, athletes need to know that they are valued regardless of the outcome. Reward effort, perseverance, and character, and provide unconditional support.

Initial Here

COMPETITION PARTICIPATION

XGT team athletes are expected to participate in scheduled competitions. Exceptions will be considered on an individual basis.

Because our athletes represent many different school districts, competition schedules cannot be planned around school calendars, including spring breaks, release days, or semester schedules. We encourage all athletes to maintain strong attendance and good academic standing throughout the competition season.

FAMILY FINANCIAL COMMITMENT

Your family’s commitment to the timely payment of tuition and competition fees is essential to running an effective team program. Our commitment is providing you with a quality competitive team experience, while working diligently to keep costs down. Accounts must be current on all XGT financial obligations, including tuition and all competition fees, in order to participate in competitions. Competitive team commitment is for one season (July-May).

TUITION

Monthly tuition is due on the 25th of the prior month and late after the 1st of the month. A $15 late fee applies, if paid after the 1st. XGT bases monthly tuition on a 48 week annual schedule and accounts for gym closings.

At the discretion of your athlete’s coach, USAG Women’s Development and USAG XCEL athletes may be required to enroll in dance and/or strength training. Tuition for these classes will be in addition to regular monthly tuition for gymnastics.

Initial Here

COMPETITION FEES

TEAM FEE - This annual fee is due in early July and covers your athlete’s Missouri USAG or KC League memberships, allowing them to participate in the competitions. It also includes a pro rata portion of the coaches’ competition expenses (USAG/League memberships, background checks, safety and training certifications, etc.).

COMPETITION APPAREL - All competitors are required to purchase team apparel and are required to wear them to each meet. Competition leo, warm-ups and backpack, as well as other apparel/team items as required by their coach are included in this fee. Sizing for team apparel begins in the summer once a decision has been made on the elements required. The apparel fee is split into two payments due in early August and early September. Additional athlete supplies may be required and will vary by program and level. Your athlete’s coach will communicate what additional supplies are needed specifically for your athlete.

REGULAR SEASON MEET ENTRY FEES - These fees include individual and team meet entry fees for the regular meet season. Depending on the program, they are split into two payments (due in early October and early November) or three payments (due in early October, early November, and early December).

INJURIES

When an athlete is injured and unable to attend a competition, we will request a refund of the meet entry fee from the host gym. Refunds are at the host gym’s discretion, and if one is given, we will issue a credit when we receive the refund. Coaching fees are calculated based on the number of athletes planning to attend the competitions. Because of this, once coaching fees have been calculated and posted to your account, you will be responsible for those fees, even if your athlete is unable to attend the competition. Athletes who are injured for extended periods (over one month) may be eligible for tuition reductions. These reductions are based on the athlete’s practice restrictions and must be approved by the Competitive Teams Director.

PAYMENT TERMS

All team families are required to be set up on autopay with a valid debit or credit card on file. Payments for all tuition and team-related fees will be charged to your card on file on their due date. If you prefer, you may pay these amounts in advance online or at the front desk. An administration fee of 5% will be applied to any competition related fee that is not paid on or before the due date. Your account must be kept current at all times during the meet season. Many competitive team fees are based on the number of athletes committed to the program. Therefore, athletes who choose to leave the program mid-season will be responsible for all fees posted to their accounts, regardless of their due date. COMPETITIVE LEAGUES

USA GYMNASTICS (USAG)

USAG is the main governing body for gymnastics in the country. USAG sets the rules and guidelines for the Women’s Development Program (formerly JO) and XCEL programs, and choreographs the compulsory routines for levels 1-5 in the Development Program. Feel free to visit their website, usagym.org for more information on the Women’s Artistic program.

Development levels 3-10 and XCEL Platinum and Diamond (& some Gold) gymnasts must have a USAG athlete membership before they can be registered to compete in meets. These annual memberships must be purchased online by the athlete’s parents. Missouri USAG membership fees are included in your team fee. All coaches on the floor during a sanctioned competition must have a Professional Membership to USAG, which requires them to pass a background check, safety course, and other coaching certifications.

KANSAS CITY GYMNASTICS LEAGUE

KC League is a group of gyms in the Kansas City Metro Area that have come together to offer another competitive option.  The gyms involved in the KC League all have the same goal; let the gymnasts learn to compete, have fun and love the sport of gymnastics!  At KC League meets, each athlete will receive an award and placement on every event they compete, as well as all around.  In addition, each team will receive a team award.  XGT competes in KC League meets for Rising Stars, Superstars, XCEL Bronze, Silver, and some Gold.

KC League requires a membership fee be paid for all athletes, which is included in your “Team Fee”. Athletes compete in one or two meets each month, November-April. We host our very own League meet, the Peace Out Invitational. KC League holds a Championship meet at the end of the season.

XTREME’S PROGRAMS

KC LEAGUE LEVELS 1-2; XCEL BRONZE, SILVER, & GOLD

XGT’s KC League levels are designed to help athletes learn more about gymnastics and prepare for competing at a more advanced level. These levels include Level 1-2, Bronze, Silver and Gold. These levels compete in the Kansas City Gymnastics League. Athletes will have an opportunity to compete in local meets during the season. KC League focuses on helping each individual athlete find their passion and experience the joy of accomplishing goals and gaining new skills.

Routines are made up of core skills needed for each event, built on the skills from a previous level. There is an emphasis in learning new skills and perfecting skills for competition. The philosophy of these routines is for the athletes to develop a foundation of basics and technique for their future success in the USAG program.

WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAM (DP LEVELS 3-10)

Women’s Development gymnastics is a competitive program run by USAG. This program provides training, evaluation, and competition opportunities to allow developing gymnasts to safely advance at their own pace through specific skill levels.

Athletes compete in compulsory or optional exercises. Optional routines are unique to each gymnast and choreographed by the Competitive Teams Director, while compulsory gymnasts perform pre-choreographed routines that each competitor must execute. Scoring for compulsory and optional is similar except that the gymnast must follow a prescribed sequence of skills in compulsories. All of our DP levels train and compete in all four Olympic events, as well as continued improvement in their strength, flexibility, teamwork, and goal-setting skills.

COMPULSORY
Levels 3, 4, 5, & 6 compete compulsory routines. Each level builds on the skills of the previous level, and likewise, is judged with higher expectations. The USAG structure is based on a progressive "step by step" building of physical, emotional, and psychological skills. Proficiency of all aspects of the gymnast at each level is expected and required to insure a safe movement through the levels. Beginning with Level 4, athletes may be required to leave school early for practice. Athletes begin to travel to meets outside of the local area.

OPTIONAL
Levels 7-10 are required to compete in meets across the country to prepare for Regional and National Championships. Optional competition consists of each gymnast performing her own uniquely choreographed routines.

XCEL PROGRAM

The XCEL Program is designed to offer a broad-based, more affordable competitive experience outside the Women’s Development Program. The biggest difference in Women’s Development and XCEL is that XCEL offers a more relaxed plan for routines allowing the gymnast more options for skills. This program allows coaches the flexibility to design routines that highlight the skill set of each athlete. Additionally, XCEL athletes train fewer hours, resulting in a lower financial and time commitment. Athletes are also not required to get out of school early. Because athletes spend less time in the gym, they are free to pursue other activities as well. At XGT, XCEL Bronze, Silver, and some Gold athletes compete locally in the Kansas City League. Upper levels of XCEL, advanced Gold, Platinum, and Diamond, compete USAG, traveling to meets outside of the area and may compete outside the state. Many athletes successfully transition between the XCEL and Women’s Development programs.
