ASF Handbook Acknowledgment

Adaptive Sports Foundation 2026/2027 Volunteer Handbook Acknowledgment

I realize that skiing/riding bears certain risks, which can lead to catastrophic injury or death. I agree to accept the risk of skiing/riding. I agree that skiing/riding is hazardous and voluntary. I agree to assume the risk of injury while participating in the sport, and agree not to sue Windham Mountain Club, the Adaptive Sports Foundation or its employees or agents if hurt while using the facilities regardless of any negligence of Windham Mountain Club, the Adaptive Sports Foundation or its employees or agents.

I further understand that Adaptive Sports Foundation programs, lessons, training, and other activities may take place at ski areas, resorts, indoor snow facilities, and other locations not operated by Windham Mountain Club. I agree that the assumptions of risk and acknowledgments contained above apply while participating in Adaptive Sports Foundation activities at any such location.

I acknowledge and agree to the following:

1. Volunteer Status and Skiing/Riding Privileges

I understand that I am a volunteer of the Adaptive Sports Foundation (ASF) and not an employee of ASF, Windham Mountain Club (WMC), or any other ski area, resort, facility, or host location where I may participate in ASF activities. I understand that skiing and riding privileges, lift tickets, passes, and other volunteer benefits are provided at the discretion of ASF and are not compensation or wages for my volunteer service.

2. Lockers and Storage Areas

I understand that lockers and storage areas provided by ASF remain the property of the organization and may be inspected by authorized personnel when there is a legitimate concern involving safety, security, ASF property, or a potential policy violation. Any such inspection will be conducted respectfully and in accordance with ASF policies.

3. Alcohol, Drugs, and Impairment

I agree to remain free from the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or other substances that could impair my ability to safely perform my volunteer responsibilities while volunteering with ASF.

If I am taking a legally prescribed medication that may affect my ability to safely perform my volunteer responsibilities, I will notify appropriate ASF staff as necessary so that any safety concerns can be appropriately addressed.

4. Illness and Communicable Disease

I agree not to volunteer when I am ill, contagious, or otherwise unable to safely participate in ASF programs. I will follow applicable ASF policies and current public health requirements related to communicable diseases and will promptly communicate with ASF when an illness or condition may affect the health and safety of ASF participants, volunteers, or staff.

5. Fitness for Volunteer Duty

I understand that if ASF has a reasonable safety concern that I may be impaired or otherwise unable to safely perform my assigned volunteer responsibilities, ASF may remove me from an assignment. When appropriate and consistent with applicable law and ASF policy, ASF may require appropriate documentation before I return to volunteer activities.

6. Chairlift Safety and Safety Bar Use

I understand and agree that the use of the chairlift safety bar is mandatory while participating in any ASF lesson, training session, or other ASF activity involving chairlift use.

I agree to lower the safety bar as soon as safely possible after loading and to keep the safety bar fully lowered throughout the chairlift ride. I will raise the safety bar only when approaching the designated unloading area and at the appropriate location indicated by posted signage, lift instructions, or direction from personnel at the ski area, resort, or host facility where the ASF activity is taking place.

I agree to communicate with other passengers before lowering or raising the safety bar and to follow all chairlift instructions, posted signage, and directions from host facility personnel, Ski Patrol, and ASF staff.

7. Volunteer Handbook

I acknowledge that I have received or been provided access to the Adaptive Sports Foundation 2026/2027 Volunteer Handbook. I have read and understand the policies, procedures, responsibilities, privileges, safety requirements, and rules applicable to my service as an ASF volunteer, and I agree to comply with them.

8. Volunteer Participation

I understand that participation as an ASF volunteer is voluntary and may be discontinued by either me or ASF at any time, with or without notice, subject to applicable law.

9. Volunteer Assignments

I understand that I am not guaranteed a volunteer assignment on any particular day, for any particular program, or for any specific length of time. Volunteer assignments are determined by ASF based on program needs, qualifications, safety considerations, student needs, scheduling, and other operational considerations.

10. Questions and Understanding

I acknowledge that I have had the opportunity to ask questions regarding the Volunteer Handbook, ASF policies, and my volunteer responsibilities and that any questions I have raised have been answered to my satisfaction.

11. Interpretation and Modification of Policies

I understand that ASF is responsible for administering and interpreting the policies contained in its Volunteer Handbook. ASF reserves the right to revise, modify, supplement, or discontinue policies, procedures, volunteer benefits, or guidelines when appropriate, subject to applicable law.
